Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale

Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale (33 cl) 4,2%
This beer was part of the release at Systembolaget at the beginning of February. I've tried it before at Monks Café and didn't much enjoy it, ended up giving it a 1,4/5 and would have poured it down the drain if I was at home. But I wanted to give it a second chance now that it was released at Systembolaget.

Style: Wheat Ale
Cost: 19,90 SEK

Bitterness------Sweetness-----Sourness-----Intensity-------Body
■□□□□□□□----□□■□□□□□-----■□□□□□□□---□■□□□□□□----□■□□□□□□

Appearance: 3/5
It poured a hazy yellow liquid with a small white foam.

Smell: 4/10

A very weak smell with a hint of banana and candy.

Taste: 3/10
Very weak smell, some bread and sweetness.

Mouthfeel: 2/5

Medium smooth with a medium carbonation and a light body.

Comment:
This is a watery and boring wheat beer with very little flavour and aroma. The big question is, where is the wheat? This tastes mostly like a pale lager.

I figured this would be a good match with most kinds of food. So I tried it with some rolls of minute steak filled with pesto, mozarella and gorgonzolla served in a creamy sauce with rice on the side. It wasn't a good match at all, the beer got a very odd bitter taste and the food also taste worse. Maybe it was the cheeses that created the weird combo but I think this beer is best on it's own.

I'm raising my score a bit since the beer is drinkable and doesn't have any bad tastes. But there are better options out there if you crave some wheat beer. If you are more in the mood for lager (as this beer taste like) then there are better lagers available as well.

Total: 1,8/5
