When I got home to Frövi last friday I finally got to testing Death By Hops 2 - Return of the Hops. You can read more about the brewing of this beer here, I also have a review of the first version of this beer here. I had already sampled it at my brothers place, but it was a bit stale and had been lying in a plastic bottle for a couple of hours. So it was not time to re-test it properly.
Death By Hops 2 - Return of the Hops (draught) 9,6%It poured a hazy dark golden-caramell liquid with a small white foam that left some lacing.
It had a strong smell of fruity hops and lots of it, also some grassy hops. Some noticable fruits where passion fruit, peaches and grapefruit. It wathered my mouth and it was hard to restrain from drinking it.
It had a very rich and deep flavour of frutity and grassy hops. Mostly fruity with passion fruit, peaches.Very smooth mouthfeel and a high bitterness. Low carbonation just as I like it. Only downside would be that it lacks some maltyness. But I really like beer like this, it's hop jucie at it's finest. Very intense and extreme, yet very drinkable and enjoyable.

I now have a couple of bottles at home and I'm willing to trade a few of them if someone is interested. Would be fun to hear what people think of this. Im interested in both homemade and imported beer.

ReplyDeleteSynd att jag inte har flera brygder att byta bort. Det enda jag har som inte finns att köpa direkt i butiken är ett par flaskor La Trappe Quadrupel. Men dom kan jag byta om det finns intresse.
Jag jobbar centralt i stan så kan träffas nästan vilken dag som helst för ett byte.
Herr Fust valde att skicka en flask av den välsignade brydgen till de mörka nordmarkerna.
ReplyDeleteVar ett ganska överväldigande 5/5 i betyg. Ganska bra även om du bortser från hur obildade vi är här uppe.
Enda nackdelarna jag har att ge är att efterbeskan är brutal, även 10-15 minuter efteråt ..och tar du en halv flaska utan middag smakar varje tomrap som att äta gräsmatta.
Ja Pernilla sa att han skickat upp en flaska. Jättekul att du gillade den. Jag tar det där med att beskan var brutal som en komplimang. Var lite rädd att den var för vek ;) Tanken är ju att den ska vara väldigt besk. Att förlänga smaken var förresten en av dom grejerna som vi ville förbättra.
