For a while the German beer Schorschbräu Schorschbock 31% was the strongest beer in the world and they didn't look threatened. Then along came the Scottish punks from BrewDog and made Tactical Nuclear Penguin at 32%. The Germans wheren't late with their comeback and made a 40 % icebock. The Italians at Revelation Cat Craft Brewery entered the fight with Freeze the Penguin. Which is a mix of a barley wine and an imperial stout and is sitting at 35%. They also made another version spiced with Habanero peppers.
Up until yesterday there was a seize fire in the world war to brew the worlds strongest beer. But yesterday all hell broke loose as the Scotts at BrewDog hit back. They have made a quadrupel IPA at 41% with lots of american hops and named it Sink the Bismarck! (the movie is worth a watch).
I can't help but see the fun in all of this. The race is on and I wonder who will strike next. Will the Germans retaliate with yet another Eisbock? Or will the Italians come up from behind with another blended beer?
While the war rages on I have to think of a way to get my hands on these beers. Here are the pictures of the current top 3:
This fight will be very interesting to follow. And as you said, Stefan, would be good fun to try them all!! :-)
ReplyDeleteSatan va starkt. Nästan att man behöver gröggvirke för att kunna dricka...
ReplyDeletePappe Åke: Yeah would be real fun to try all three at the same time. Hmm I wonder if they are for sale anywhere...
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: Haha ja det kanske man gör. Men blandar du till en grogg på det här när jag är med så hoppas jag att du är snabb ;)
Man skulle ju vilja testa ölen, men dom är nog roligare än bra.
