Monks Café Riegele Stout

Monks Café Riegele Stout (10 cl sample) 5,3%
Another one of the beers I tried last week at Monks Café Sveavägen. It has been aged on Mackmyra barrels.
Style: Stout Cost: 25 SEK Bitterness------Sweetness-----Sourness-----Intensity-------Body
□■□□□□□□----□□■□□□□□-----□■□□□□□□---□□■□□□□□----□□□■□□□□

Appearance: 4/5
It poured a pitch black liquid with a small light brown foam.

Smell: 6/10

Butter, buttered popcorn and wood.
Taste: 6/10
Chocolate, butter and wood.

Mouthfeel: 3/5

Medium smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and low-med carbonation.

Comment:
Despite being aged on Mackmyra barrels this beer wasn't very complex. I expected another dimension to the beer that felt a bit one sided. It also had to much butter (diacetyl) then what I prefer. The bartender it came from the barrels, which I'm not sure about. Their latest weizen bock had the same problem. I just hope this isn't a permanent problem in their production.

Total: 3,1/5
